NZAR (New Zealand Asset Recovery) cannot and does not guarantee that any particular search will locate unclaimed money or assets, or that any claim will succeed. Claims are subject to the relevant legislation (including the Unclaimed Money Act 1971, the Companies Act 1993 and the Administration Act 1969), the policies of holding agencies, and the completeness of available records. Every case is different.
We rely on information held by third parties, including public registers operated by Inland Revenue, the Treasury, the Companies Office, the New Zealand Gazette and others. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or currency of third-party records, and we cannot be liable for any loss arising from reliance on them.
We are an asset recovery service, not a law firm, and we do not hold ourselves out as providing legal advice. Where a claim requires legal steps — such as a High Court application for company restoration or probate — we will recommend that you engage, or we will coordinate with, a qualified New Zealand lawyer.
We do not hold client funds. Recovered amounts are paid directly to clients by the relevant agency. We do not accept payment "release fees" or any other form of upfront charge, and we encourage clients to be wary of any person or business that demands money upfront to release funds.
If you are contacted by anyone claiming you have unclaimed money and requesting payment before release, this is a hallmark of a scam. Genuine recovery services do not operate that way. You can verify legitimate unclaimed money processes directly with the holding agency (e.g. IRD's unclaimed money pages or the Treasury).
We aim to keep this website available and accurate, but we give no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we accept no liability for any loss arising from the use of this website.
