Information we collect in our work: when you engage us, we may collect information about you or your family from public registers and authorised sources — for example IRD unclaimed money records, the Companies Register, the New Zealand Gazette, and court records.
Website usage data: basic analytics such as pages visited, if analytics are enabled (see section 7).

To respond to your enquiries and provide our free assessments.
To carry out asset searches and manage claims on your behalf under your engagement agreement.

4. Sensitive and third-party information

If you ask us to search on behalf of someone else — such as a deceased family member or a company you were connected with — you confirm that you have authority to provide that information. When we collect information about identifiable individuals from public registers, we do so only to the extent necessary to identify and pursue valid claims.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share information only:

With the agency holding the funds or assets, as required to make a claim (e.g. IRD, Treasury, a bank);
With professional advisers (e.g. lawyers) engaged for your claim;
Where required by law, or to protect our rights or the rights of others.

6. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep records only for as long as needed for the purpose (including any legal or tax requirements), and destroy or de-identify them afterwards.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website does not require cookies to function. If we enable analytics in future, we will use privacy-respecting tools and update this policy accordingly. You may contact us to opt out.

8. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may:

Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
Request correction of inaccurate information;
Request deletion of your information (subject to legal requirements);
Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we have breached your privacy.
