How NZAR works

Four clear steps. No upfront fees. No obligation. You stay in control at every stage.

1. Free assessment

Tell us who you are, who you're searching for, or which business you were connected with. We'll run a preliminary search across the public registers — free of charge and with no obligation. If nothing surfaces, we'll tell you honestly.

2. Investigation

If there's a lead, we dig deeper. Our specialists search IRD unclaimed money records, Treasury notices, the Companies Register, court funds and institutional records. We compile an evidence pack showing exactly what was found and who holds it.

3. You approve the claim

You review the evidence and decide whether to proceed. If you do, you sign a simple engagement agreement: 12.5% of any amount recovered, only on success. You can withdraw at any time before a claim is filed.

4. Funds returned to you

We prepare and file all claim documentation — from proof of identity to company restoration applications — and follow up until the matter is resolved. Funds are paid directly to you or your estate. We invoice our success fee after your funds are in hand.

The registers we search

IRD Unclaimed Money Register

The central register of money transferred to Inland Revenue under the Unclaimed Money Act 1971.

Treasury Public Notices

Vesting and disclaimer notices under the Companies Act 1993 and Limited Partnerships Act 2008 — published in the Gazette.

Companies Register

Removed and deregistered companies, director and shareholder records, and historical filings.

New Zealand Gazette

Official notices of vesting, disclaimers, estate notices, and probate and administration filings.

Court & Justice Records

Unclaimed funds held by the Ministry of Justice and court deposit accounts.

Institutional Records

Banks, insurers, superannuation schemes, and solicitors' trust accounts holding dormant balances.

Important: We never handle client money. All recovered funds are paid directly to you by the holding agency. Our fee is invoiced separately and is payable only after your funds are received.
